J. Alden Clothiers, Clothing & Fashion Accessories for Men and Women.

J. Alden has been located in the historic village of Essex Connecticut since April of 1993. Since our inception my goal was to hand pick for my clients quality clothing and accessories from domestic and international vendors while being aware of remaining at “comfortable” price points. Whenever possible I also enjoy showcasing items from local Connecticut based artisans on their way to the national “stage”.

Although we are located in a small New England “resort” town, I still strive to provide our clients with the highest measure of attention possible.

Some of our men’s resources are Polo/Ralph Lauren, Southern Tide, Peter Millar and Bills Khakis. Our women’s items vary on a seasonal basis, but quite often are from Gretchen Scott, Judy P, Echo, and Pink Tulips.

As we enter into our 20th year of business we’ve also had numerous requests to purchase some of our display items. As you enter J. Alden, you will now see many items on display, from vintage and estate books, to our haberdashery items and America’s Cup memorabilia, which I have collected over the past three decades in the apparel business. I hope you will be pleased with this new dimension to the shop, and visit us often to see our new pieces. I look forward to seeing our returning seasonal visitors, as well as new faces this year.
